Any help would be appreciated! I also just noticed this is a mazda3 forum. What sucks is there is no dyno tuners for a couple hundred miles from me. Nor am I trying to buy a pre programmed ecu. Does anyone have any direction for tuning once it’s built? I heard piggy backs aren’t worth a sh** either. I’ve been looking everywhere, is dyno the only answer to tuning this car? Im not buying an odb2 chip, Cobb doesn’t make an accessport for this car either, they have the mazdaspeed 3 and up. Still have yet to rip it fully apart, gotta find out the turbo specs and whatnot/order the rest of the parts. But Im really hoping the egr fix will help. I know the ecu will try to compensate for mistakes, I unhooked the heat temp sensor or coolant sensor and for a little while it would run just fine. Research the 2003 Mazda MazdaSpeed Protege at and find specs, pricing, MPG, safety data, photos, videos, reviews and local inventory. Someone put a front mount intercooler on this car already and it seems to be in decent condition, has a Borla exhaust turbo back… What I’m really trying to figure out is how can I tune this thing?! I’m hoping that it will run better after rebuilding and getting the egr system working again… it was really finicky, had to be super light on the gas pedal, or else it would “glug” out as if getting too much fuel. possibly a new radiator/fans, turbo, coil overs. As well as pistons, rings, valves, valve seals and cleaning the entire engine out and or all parts in there I can possibly clean. ![]() I’m rebuilding an 03 mazdaspeed protege 2.0 turbo and I’m replacing a lot of electrical parts-ignition coils, spark plugs, camshaft positioning sensor, throttle positioning sensor, coolant temp sensor, knock sensor, oxygen sensors, maf sensor, map sensor, idle air control valve, thermostat, fuel injectors, fuel pump, vacuum lines, EGR hose, which was for some reason sketchily “deleted” improperly and they just capped off the exhaust return line because it broke is what I’m guessing(hanging loose in engine bay) still connected to intake manifold.
